2. GARLIC: Forget the pungent smell of this super food which is a powerful flu fighter. Garlic is one bulb you do not want miss during the cold season. It contains a compound called  Allicin; which have been found to have antiviral effects. Hey, if you are not a vampire, you have no reason to avoid garlic as it helps destroy flu virus once it comes in contact with it before it becomes full blown.

You might argue you do not like the smell- cut the garlic into smaller tiny pieces and use them like pills. This has been effective in reducing the smell, or you can add garlic to your stews and meals. I bet you would not lose the viral fighting property of garlic. Remember, the sulphur containing substance also wades off bacteria infection.
