3. Whole Grains like corn, millet, oats, etc
Corn, millet, oats, rice, rye, sorghum, wheat, wild rice, barley, etc., are common examples of whole grains. Don’t get it twisted, the form in which we usually eat these grains cannot be classified as whole. These grains when consumed in a form including the bran, germ and endosperm, are examples of generally accepted whole grain foods and flours.
To tap into the benefits of the ante-ageing properties of these grains, we have to eat them whole. Whole grains are better than processed grains. Whole grains have been shown to make a difference to ageing of the arteries and immune system. Instead of enriched wheat flour, processed flour, semolina, etc., choose breads and pastas made from whole grain wheat. The cooking may take much more time but it’s worth the benefits you will derive.
Whole grains, most especially barley are considered superfoods for anti-ageing. Barley is one of the best whole grains you can eat for blood pressure control.
