As a practising nutritionist, I have been privileged to successfully work with people who are obese, overweight and those possessing elongated belies. In my approach in helping them, I have come to realise that the best method is to steadily lose weight by eating a balanced diet that comprises of all food groups including healthy fats. Crashing about 20-30 pounds of fat in a week is not the path to follow. By the time you cannot continue with the regime of the crash diets and your return to your normal food consumption, and then all the lost weight will be regain and even more. You can lose more than 10 pounds in a week or two if you crash diet but you will feel very unhealthy and sick because you are lacking nutrients. What is best is to eat more frequent nutritious small portioned meals that will help keep your metabolism going while ensuring your total kilocalorie intake is low at recommended level. Losing about 2 pounds or 1kg weekly is realistic.
